20 The Large Fortification Near the Gihon Spring in Jerusalem, and its Relationship to Wall NB Discovered by Kathleen Kenyon The Reich and Shukron Excavations ( 2009 ) From a comparison of our plans with Parker’s and Kenyon’s, it became clear that the southern ends of wall NA and NB excavated by Kenyon are located some distance north of wall W108 . Kenyon’s walls extend in a north - south direction, meaning that they run perpendicular to wall W108, which follows an east - west line . Due to the considerable height of wall W108, we concluded that Kenyon’s wall NB ends to the north of wall W108 . It was decided to examine the relationship between wall NB and wall W108, that is, to determine whether Kenyon’s wall NB is incorporated in, or adjoins, the northern face of wall W108, or whether it is intersected by it .
