Abstract

Policy Paper 167 | Employment of Older Adults in Israeliv the employment of older adults in Israel and the characteristics of those dropping out prematurely from the labor force . In addition, we survey policy measures used abroad to encourage the employment of older adults and the success rate of these measures, and assess the current Israeli policy in light of these findings . This analysis serves as a basis for recommendations of possible policy measures for increasing employment among older adults in Israel . Our analysis highlights the fact that certain individual characteristics are systematically associated with early retirement from the labor force . For example, workers in industries such as mining, agriculture and communications tend to leave the labor force prematurely, while workers in fields such as education and health tend to stay employed even at more advanced ages .
