It can be compared only to the new Basic Laws passed in the mid - s, 1 although the latter outweigh the Nation - state Law in importance because 1990 of their effect on the normative status of regular laws passed by the Knesset in comparison with constitutional legislation . 2 The Basic Law : The Nation - state aspires – according to its authors, its language, and its objective – to provide constitutional anchoring to certain aspects of the national identity of the State of Israel, some of them already incorporated in regular legislation and others not .
